TIRR
Master Site Plan and Perimeter Flood Barrier
Construction
Cost: $3.8 million
Client: The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research
The
purpose of this Master Plan was to design and construct a flood
barrier system around TIRR Hospital Campus.
The
special challenge was to build a floodwall that is 5ft higher than
the 1st floor of the hospital, while creating inviting entrances for
patients and visitors.
This was achieved by providing hidden pockets
for flood gates and incorporating landscaping and terraced walls
into the system. Outdoor gathering areas for the patients, families
and staff were also added.
